Definition

What Is an Epic Customers List?

An Epic customers list is a list of companies using Epic's software, mostly hospitals, health systems and medical groups, linked to business contacts for the people inside them who make or influence technology decisions.

A list of names alone tells you who uses Epic. Installed-base data goes further: it connects each Epic customer to its type, location and size, and to the CIO, the applications team or the revenue cycle leader you actually need to reach.

Identifying companies using Epic matters because the EHR shapes what else a provider can buy, which integrations it needs and who owns the decision. Knowing a prospect runs Epic tells you how to frame your offer and which team to approach first.

The vendor

What Is Epic?

Epic Systems Corporation, usually just called Epic, is a healthcare software company based in Verona, Wisconsin. It was founded in 1979, describes itself as employee-owned, and builds its own software rather than acquiring other products.

Epic is best known for its electronic health record, which hospitals, health systems and physician groups use for clinical documentation, orders, results and medications. The same platform also covers scheduling, registration and billing, a patient portal, data exchange with other organizations, and population health.

Because one Epic system often spans a provider's hospitals, clinics and back office, choosing and running it involves IT, clinical, operational and financial leaders at once.

Market context

Epic's Presence in U.S. Healthcare

Figures Epic publishes about its own platform, as shown on its websites in September 2026. Each counts something different, so they should not be added together or compared with one another.

Epic EHR Market Share

KLAS Research's US Acute Care EHR Market Share 2026 report, covering EHR contracts from January to December 2025, puts Epic at 43.7% of U.S. acute care hospitals. Measured by beds instead of hospitals, Epic's share is 56.9%, which reflects its presence in larger hospitals.

The same report says Epic added 77 acute care hospitals in 2025. These figures describe acute care hospitals only, not clinics, physician practices or other ambulatory settings.

Products

Epic Products and Capabilities

The parts of the Epic ecosystem vendors most often ask about. Epic customers license different parts of Epic, so no single customer uses all of them.

Third-party developers work with Epic through open.epic (opens in a new tab) and Epic Vendor Services (opens in a new tab). Whether a given product connects to Epic depends on that product; a company using Epic does not mean any particular integration is in place.

Targeting

Target Companies Using Epic

Build a targeted Epic users list: start from Epic, then narrow by where, what kind of company and who. You see the count before you commit.

Filter by

  • Department
  • Seniority
  • State
  • City
  • ZIP code
  • Region

Size and revenue filters apply where the company record carries them.

Target Epic Users by Geography

Ask for the whole United States or narrow to the states, cities, ZIP codes or regions you cover. Territory-based sales teams often request one list per rep. Counts by state are quoted with your request, not published here.

Epic Customers by Company Type

Choose health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, children's hospitals, medical groups or specialty and ambulatory providers, alone or together. Add employee size, revenue range or parent health system to separate large enterprises from community providers, where that data is on the record.
