NextGen Healthcare Customers List

NextGen Healthcare is a healthcare technology company focused on ambulatory care. Its EHR and practice management software comes in two versions, one for medical groups of 10 or more providers and one for smaller independent practices, and it is used widely by specialty practices, community health centers and behavioral health providers.

Knowing which companies and medical practices use NextGen Healthcare helps technology vendors, consultants, service providers and healthcare suppliers find accounts where their solutions may be relevant, and understand the setup they would be working alongside.

HCPContacts helps you identify companies using NextGen Healthcare and connect with their practice administration, operations, IT, finance and executive decision-makers.

The company

What Is NextGen Healthcare?

NextGen Healthcare makes software for care delivered outside the hospital: an EHR, practice management, revenue cycle tools and patient engagement, sold to physician practices, medical groups and health centers.

It is also the owner of Mirth Connect, an integration engine used well beyond its own EHR customers, which gives NextGen a second role in healthcare data exchange.

It markets to 40+ specialties and says it serves 300+ community health centers, and its Behavioral Health Suite ranked #1 in Best in KLAS 2025. Independent primary care and pediatric practices use it too.

Clinical and administrative

NextGen EHR and Practice Management

Both NextGen products pair the clinical record with practice management, and NextGen adds revenue cycle services on top. A practice on NextGen is therefore running its charts, schedule and billing on the same vendor's software.

That widens the set of people who care about the platform. In a NextGen practice, technology questions reach the practice administrator and the revenue cycle director as well as the IT director, and in specialty groups the medical director shapes the templates clinicians use.

Definition

What Is a NextGen Healthcare Customers List?

A NextGen Healthcare customers list pairs practices and companies that run NextGen with business contacts for the people who manage them. A generic list of medical practices tells you who exists; a NextGen list tells you what they run and who decides.

Who uses it

Companies Using NextGen Healthcare

NextGen's customers are ambulatory. Its public customer stories are weighted toward specialty groups, community health centers and behavioral health, with NextGen Office serving the smallest practices.

  • Specialty practicesNextGen lists 40+ specialty markets. Eye care, cardiology, urology and orthopedics all appear among the examples below.
  • Multispecialty and large medical groupsThe groups NextGen Enterprise is built for, with 10 or more providers and often several sites.
  • Independent small practicesPractices under 10 providers, the audience NextGen names for NextGen Office.
  • Community health centers and FQHCsNextGen says it serves 300+ health centers and calls itself the #1 EHR for them.
  • Behavioral health providersCommunity mental health centers, CCBHCs and youth services, on the NextGen Behavioral Health Suite.
  • Tribal and integrated careTribal health centers and organizations combining medical, dental and behavioral care.

Specialties

Specialty Practices Using NextGen Healthcare

NextGen lists more than 40 specialty markets, each with its own content. Among its current customer stories, eye care stands out: four of the named examples below are ophthalmology groups, alongside cardiology, urology, orthopedics and pediatrics.

For vendors, specialty is often the first filter after the EHR itself. A NextGen ophthalmology group and a NextGen behavioral health center share a vendor but little else.

Market context

NextGen Healthcare's Presence in U.S. Healthcare

NextGen publishes its footprint in medical groups, locations, patient records and health centers, not in providers. NextGen also reports 75,000 locations nationwide. None of these is HCPContacts data.

NextGen and Ambulatory Market Share

There is no public count of NextGen's share of U.S. practices. The federal measure counts clinicians: of the 268,652 clinicians who reported for Promoting Interoperability in Medicare's Quality Payment Program in 2024, 11,296, or 4.2%, reported NextGen certified health IT.

That makes NextGen the fifth most-reported developer in that group, after Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth and Clinisys. The denominator is clinicians in one Medicare program, a clinician can report more than one developer, and many health center clinicians do not report there at all, so it is not an ambulatory market share.

Product-level targeting is not offered. The list records NextGen Healthcare at the vendor level, not whether a practice runs NextGen Enterprise or NextGen Office. Employee size is the practical way to separate larger groups from small practices.

Use cases

How Businesses Can Use a NextGen Healthcare Customers List

How knowing the NextGen environment changes account, department and role selection. It does not make a practice a buyer, and results depend on your offer.

  • Account-based marketingNextGen sells Enterprise to groups of 10+ providers and Office to smaller practices. Use employee size to separate the two audiences and write to each.
  • Healthcare IT salesGroups of 10+ providers are more likely to have an IT director than small practices, where the practice manager often decides. Size points you to the right first contact.
  • Practice management solutionsNextGen's practice management is already in place and highly rated by users, so position tools as complements to it.
  • Revenue cycle and billing servicesNextGen offers RCM for both products and also markets to billing companies, so find out whether billing is in-house, with NextGen or with a third party.
  • Patient engagement technologySome NextGen practices already use its portal, Luma-powered engagement and payments. Knowing the platform shows what an engagement tool must fit around.
  • Integration and interoperabilityNextGen owns Mirth Connect, an integration engine it says a third of public HIEs use, which moved to a proprietary license in 2025. That change matters to anyone building or running interfaces.
  • CybersecurityNextGen Office runs on a cloud platform, while Enterprise customers such as Adult & Child Health use NextGen's managed cloud. Who owns security differs.
  • Behavioral healthNextGen's Behavioral Health Suite serves community mental health centers and CCBHCs. Reach their executive, clinical and IT leaders.
  • Specialty clinical technologyEye care, cardiology, urology and orthopedic groups appear repeatedly among NextGen customers. Reach specialty practices with the EHR known.
  • Data and analyticsNextGen Insights and Population Health put reporting and value-based care on the agenda. Reach finance, clinical and IT leaders together.
